Top 5 Wednesday: Nostalgic Book Boyfriends

Characters you swooned over when you were younger.

Most women say that Disney Princes have ruined real men for them. In my case, it’s male characters from books and movies/TV-Shows (Disney princes aren’t my thing unless you count Loki ’cause Marvel is technically Disney, right?)
I read a lot of Dutch/Flemish books when I was younger, most of which you’ll never have heard of. So I decided to just go for Book Boyfriends in general. The once that have been my faves the longest. Plus a couple of TV-show Boyfriends.
Draco Malfoy – Harry Potter series
Draco Malfoy
N°1 crush growing up. While everyone was swooning over Harry, I was patiently waiting for J.K. Rowling to write some more Draco. And yes, now I’m more aware of his flaws while back then I just wanted him to turn out to be a good guy. He’s a baddie, but over the years I’ve found that those are just the characters I’m drawn to.
Mr. Darcy – Pride and Prejudice
Mr Darcy Pride and Prejudice Colin Firth
Yup, I fell for him. Seeing Colin Firth step out of that fountain certainly helped but overall I just really like the way he’s written. Jane Austen did a wonderful job.
Edward Cullen – Twilight
Edward Cullen Twilight
A real “when I was younger” crush. I still think the first book was rather good. The three other books ruined it for me. Nowadays, I rarely think of Edward Cullen anymore.
James – Pokémon
James Team Rocket Pokémon
You see, my preference for the bad guys started early. Pokémon was just starting to get big when I was young and while I liked Brock at first, I quickly grew tired of his obsession with girls. James was mysterious and when little snippets from his past were revealed, I felt so sorry for him.
Duo Maxwell – Gundam Wings
Duo Maxwell Gundam Wings
Oh dear, I’ve fallen into the depths of my youth now. Gundam Wings was one of my favorite things and (more importantly) one of the things I remember sharing with my sister. Quatre was her fave and Duo was mine.
What are some of your fictional favorites?

          1. No, the cast of characters changes each Gundam show. But Iron-Blooded Orphans is surely one of the BEST ones and Build Fighters is jusy fun!
